Sasagamine is a plateau surrounded by 2,000-meter-class mountains. At an altitude of 1,300 meters, it&srquo;s a beautiful area of forests, lakes, ponds and marshes. Here you’ll find giant Japanese elms, Norway spruce, and maples and beeches that add brilliant reds and yellows to the stunning autumn colors. Trails wind through the area, including the trailhead to access Mt. Myoko and Mt. Hiuchi. Buses are available from Myokokogen Station that stops at several locations in Sasagamine.
