Akakura Onsen is blessed by the variety of delicious ingredients available in Niigata: rice and saké, made possible by the water from all the snow; mountain vegetables; the freshest seafood from the nearby Sea of Japan. There’s a culinary culture that’s different from other regions, one of the reasons people not only from all around Japan but from around the world gather here. Enjoy fresh tastes and quality unlike what you’ll find elsewhere in Japan!
Here are some of the Akakura shops selling top local products including sweets, unique products, vegetables and beverages, as well as where you can pick up health care and other daily items, as well as gear for all your outdoor activities.
There are many interesting (and some special, slightly hidden) spots well worth a visit during your time in Akakura Onsen. There’s something here to discover, through all the seasons!
