The naturally hot water that serves Akakura Onsen is very special. It is highly efficacious in easing all the ailments that onsen are known for addressing: neuralgia, rheumatism, stiff choulders, lower back pain and fatigue. The onsen here is also well known for its ability to help develop beautiful skin and heal wounds.

The Akakura Onsen source is high on the north side of Mt. Myoko. The combination of the temperature of the water at the source, the distance down to the town and other factors, the water arrives in the baths at an almost ideal 42°C. It is known as beautiful skin water, a natural lotion, the spring with a perfect temperature, and even reisen: a sacred, miraculous spring.
